As a pet health practitioner I often get this question frequently from my clients. Due to the ever raising living standards, it is a very rational idea to have your dog insured. Most are the times the veterinary costs of treating your dog are beyond your means. This is a very challenging situation and you will need some financial assistance to raise the high fees, particularly if the dog is suffering from terminal illness and is likely to be under treatment for a long period.
I often ask people this question ‘what does your dog mean to you?’ depending on their answer you will notice that majority of people are ready to take care of their dog and give the best treatment that is available. As many people would want to imagine that pet insurance is a luxurious consideration for me I think it is a necessity for every dog owner to have their dog insured. Another common misconception about dog insurance is that is far beyond the reach of the common dog owner. I beg to differ by illustrations below.
Though the figures that I use are just illustrations there are a rational indicator of the importance of the Dog insurance. With the average cost of a pet cover costing a thousand dollars over the life of an average pet. There are good reasons to buy the policy for your dog. The veterinary costs of some of the procedures that are likely to be carried out on your pet are rather prohibitive and this is the main reason why the pet insurance cover is not costly on your budget. When you think of the long-term benefits that come with this insurance cover, it is worth your bottom dollar as it will dawn on you when your pet falls ill.
Whether you prioritize the dog insurance cover in your budget or not depends on how important you think your dog is to your life. If you treat your dog as your best companion or a valued asset a thousand dollars may not be so much to ask for. On the other hand considering the amount of agony both financial and mental you are likely to suffer when your dog is taken ill, a few thousand dollars can be a great lifetime gift to your best friend. Your dog deserves to enjoy life to the fullest on this note I feel that the dog insurance is ultimately necessary for any dog if not all the dogs.
How to choose a good dog insurance policy remains a mystery to many people. We look forward to discussing this topic in the next Ezine.
